I am supportive and encouraged by the work of Rabbi Isaac Fingerer and the Think and Care Tank.

As president and founder of B.H. Direct Response, Inc., an advertising agency/media placement company whose clients include Sears, Countrywide Mortgage and AIG, I appreciate the impact that advertising, and media in general can have on people’s thinking and behavior. Unfortunately media is usually used to further the agenda of entities/companies whose goals seem almost singularly focused on increasing revenues, without consideration of how their messages negatively effect our society. I feel that supporting Think and Care Tank’s plan to utilize media and Internet to bolster positive, accepted values is an admirable and commendable act.  Utilized correctly, media and Internet can be used to disseminate positive messages that can help counter the negative messages people are inundated by on a daily basis.

My professional background in media and public policy lead me to believe in the potential power of the Think and Care Tank.

I served as a senior executive at national media companies including Court TV, Channel One and information and media conglomerate Primedia Inc. (Channel One’s parent and the largest targeted media company in the world). As head of Public Policy for Primedia, I shaped policy and communications affecting the decisions of hundreds of trade and commercial publications as diverse as New York Magazine, Seventeen, Motor Trend and Guns & Ammo, as well as Films Media Group, 18 satellite television networks, and About, the fourth largest Internet company in America.

I also co-chaired the Federalist Society’s Media Law Subcommittee and served on the board of the Cable Television Public Affairs Association and the government affairs council of the Magazine Publishers of America.

There is a crying need for effective media related programming and outreach in Jewish communal, social, and organizational efforts. It is my hope that by capitalizing on the resources of Internet and other media, Think and Care Tank’s programs will make a tremendous contribution towards Jewish continuity.

My name is Scott J. Weitz and I am the president of DRIVER MEDIA. I have spent almost 20 years in the media industry creating commercials for many Fortune 500 companies.  DRIVER MEDIA, the company I co- founded seven years ago creates commercials and a myriad of other media for clients such as Microsoft, COKE, Pepsi, ATT, GM, Saab, UPS, Chrysler, Samsung, Canon, Ebay and many others. 

The Internet presents enormous opportunities to broadcast our messages directly to viewers.  It is important that the Jewish people are out in front; aggressively creating media that communicates our values, our history and our relevance to the masses.

Today our people are besieged by millions of messages and a myriad of competing ideologies. It is vital that we deliver our universal Jewish values-based messages.  For when one understands what it is to be a Jew, one can be committed to our people and our tradition. Without this understanding, the bonds of our community will fray.

The Think and Care Tank is founded on the principle of delivering universal Jewish values to the masses. It is run by scholars who have dedicated much of their lives to studying Jewish values and have the passion and perseverance to deliver Jewish values to the largest audience possible. I am proud to be on their board and offer my services freely to them. This organization can and will make an impact.
